Latest Up-date:
17 November 2020
The Anniversary was held on Saturday 14 November 2020 at James Cook School, Mill Street, Marton.
What a brilliant day it was for memories and renewing old friendships.
Many thanks to those who were able to make it, despite the worst efforts of COVID19 and a last-minute mumps scare, which fortunately turned out to be negative.
Did you know?????
The 1995 video is on YouTube!!!!

Meanwhile, below are the photos I took at the anniversary on Saturday.
To enlarge them, double click on each individual photo, magic should occur.
You are welcome to download any or all photos.
Highlights of yesterday include:
The powhiri welcoming us onto the school site, the performance of the wonderful kapa haka group, photos taken by Alicia Walker (they will be presented on a subsequent post on this site), beautiful food (thanks to Anna Williams, Peter Boerboom, John Mayo and their many helpers), a tour of the school taken by Deputy Principal Mel Morris (she deserves a medal that lady, stepping in as she did at such short notice).
And did I mention the opening of the Time Capsule buckets?
Urban myth had it that in 1995, I buried the two buckets in some secret part of the grounds. Nope! The truth is far more boring. I put them into the old sports room at the far end of the hall and there they stayed until we needed them a month or so ago. When the hall was redeveloped a few years back, they were put up into the attic over the office area. Personally, I prefer the urban myth version. A shame it wasn't true! Not even a little bit.
We handed out all the contents of the Time Capsule buckets, to the delight of those who had put offerings into the buckets in 1995. Some were claimed by friends or family of those who could not make it on the day. We hope you enjoy your letter when it finally does arrive from whoever claimed it for you. There were too many claiming for friends and family for us to be able to keep a record of that so please don't ask, as we really will have no idea.
We also prepared entries for the next anniversary, the 75th, in 2045.
Those new buckets will also be put up into the attic waiting to make their entrance 25 years ahead in the future.
As for those envelopes that were not claimed, they are still available for a short while. If you email me on barry.williams@in2net.co.nz, I will do what I can to get them to you.
Thanks for your interest.
Watch this space for the photos taken by Alicia Walker and still to come.
Roll on the 75th and meanwhile enjoy the photos below. Hope to see you there (I will only be 98, after all).
Cheers and ka kite ano
